Targeting of the intervention zones of PIDES Senegal

Targeting of the intervention zones of the Integrated Program of Economic and Social Development (PIDES) and the realization of participative diagnoses for the identification of the needs and initiatives of the youth and women to be supported in the region of Kaolack (Senegal).

The services provided focused on:

defining the areas of intervention of the PIDES after an identification of operational and political criteria;
identifying and analyzing the constraints related to the socio-economic development of women with a view to empowerment;
identifying the potentialities of women and analyzing their capacities for socio-economic initiative and empowerment;
and identifying the main interventions to be implemented in favor of youth, women and institutional partners members of the platform.

Empowerment of 900 women in the Kolda region (Senegal)

In its national strategy for social protection and disaster risk management, the State of Senegal has retained, among other strategic objectives, the strengthening of mechanisms for direct transfer of public resources to vulnerable groups. In support of this objective, UNICEF Senegal has initiated a cash transfer pilot project in the Kolda region.

Our work focused on:

assessing the potential for initiative and the capacity to carry out income-generating activities among women;
identifying promising niches and providing support for the design of project sheets for women with initiatives and mothers of children who are cash transfer beneficiaries;
and training approximately 900 women from cash transfer beneficiary families who are carrying out micro-projects for income-generating activities that were formulated during the first phase.

Diagnostic and targeting study of potential beneficiaries of PADESS Senegal

Diagnostic and targeting study to identification of potential vulnerable groups and poor families to benefit from social safety nets in the intervention zones of the Senegalese Economic and Social Development Support Program (PADESS).

The mission is to ensure adequate targeting of vulnerable groups and poor families who are potential beneficiaries of social safety nets in the PADESS intervention zones in the Dakar region.

Our intervention allowed to:

Define the socio-economic profiles of poverty and vulnerability in the program’s intervention zones;
Carry out community and category-based targeting of vulnerable groups and potential poor households benefiting from social safety nets and economic assets;
Identify and analyze the constraints related to the socio-economic development of women, families and youth with a view to empowerment;
Identify and analyze the potential for productive initiatives and capacities of vulnerable groups and poor households from an empowerment perspective;
Identify and analyze the most appropriate institutional and community mechanism, in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity, to ensure the technical supervision and proximity monitoring necessary for the implementation of the planned social nets/economic assets.
